Originally launched in May 2023, MotoX quickly established itself as one of the platform’s leading racing games, earning a 4.9-star rating across more than 23,000 reviews and building a highly competitive global community. The move to free-to-play marks the next stage in the game’s growth and reflects a broader trend within the VR market, where social, multiplayer-first titles have shown the strongest engagement and expansion.
Across VR, accessible multiplayer experiences have increasingly outperformed traditional upfront purchase models, particularly among younger users who prioritise playing together, communicating in real time, and sharing their favourite moments online. ENVER’s decision positions MotoX firmly within that shift.
“MotoX was always built to be played together,” said Kyle Joyce, CEO of ENVER. “Riders race in real time, talk through built-in voice chat, organise tournaments, and share highlight clips. Removing the upfront cost gives significantly more players the opportunity to compete, connect, and ride together.”
MotoX is a fast-paced VR motocross experience featuring real-time global multiplayer, built-in voice communication, multiple dynamic tracks, and a freestyle trick system that includes flips, whips, wheelies, stoppies, supermans, and more. Players compete across Time Trials, classic races, and party-style modes such as Infected, while customising their riders and bikes to stand out on the track. The game receives monthly updates introducing new features, bikes, customisation options, power-ups, and gameplay refinements designed to keep competition fresh.
Under the new structure, MotoX now offers a free core experience including base tracks, online multiplayer, and competitive leaderboards. Additional tracks and content packs are available individually, alongside optional in-game currency for cosmetics and expansion content.
ENVER expects the transition to significantly broaden the active player base, unlock larger competitive events, and elevate MotoX from a successful racing title into one of the most widely played multiplayer games in VR, bringing the motocross game in line with other ENVER titles such as Scary Baboon and ENVER-backed UG, which have both scaled rapidly under free-to-play models.
Players who previously purchased MotoX retain full premium access and receive additional in-game recognition, including an exclusive OG rider tag, a limited-edition Golden Bike, and 6,000 in-game coins equivalent to the original purchase price.
Since launch, MotoX has consistently ranked among Meta Quest’s top VR racing titles. With an established community and strong retention, ENVER views the free-to-play shift as a structural expansion rather than a pricing adjustment.
“MotoX has proven itself as a competitive VR racing experience,” added Kyle Joyce. “Opening the gates allows it to grow into something larger, with more players, bigger tournaments, and more moments worth sharing.”
MotoX is available free-to-play exclusively on Meta Quest from today.
