Scary Baboon Unleashes Black GooGoo in Major New Boss Update

New boss fight, hidden areas, collectible pets and an expanded arsenal arrive in The Lab

Scary Baboon has launched its latest major content update, introducing Black GooGoo, a new multi-stage boss encounter alongside secret areas to explore, new collectible pets and a major expansion to the game’s weapons and utility items.

The update marks the second major boss addition to Scary Baboon and expands The Lab with a new cooperative encounter designed to push players to work together, experiment with different loadouts and uncover more of the game’s growing world.

At the centre of the update is Black GooGoo, a new boss that appears naturally within The Lab before drawing players into a pentagonal arena where the environment becomes part of the fight.

Black GooGoo can call down targeted lightning strikes, sweep across large sections of the arena and unleash waves of goo, with several attacks capable of destroying parts of the floor beneath players. Damaged sections regenerate over time, forcing players to balance movement, positioning and damage while avoiding falling into the arena below.

Defeating the boss also requires coordination. Five levers positioned across Black GooGoo’s back must be activated to trigger an electrical strike that stuns the boss and creates a window for players to attack.

The fight becomes even more intense once Black GooGoo reaches low health, triggering a surprise second phase in which the boss transforms into White GooGoo and begins attacking with shorter cooldowns.

The update also expands exploration throughout The Lab, with new secret entrances leading players into previously unseen areas. Six locations can be discovered across the map, including new environments, hidden rooms and lore that hints at what may be lurking deeper beneath the facility.

Among the new discoveries are references to an underground ocean and a mysterious entity known as the Leviathan, adding another layer to Scary Baboon’s evolving world and leaving players with new clues to piece together.

Players who defeat Black GooGoo can also earn new Black GooGoo Eggs, which contain six new collectible pets across Common, Epic, Legendary and Mythic rarities.

One of the new pets features the Goo Hammer Ultimate, temporarily transforming into a giant weapon that players can use to deal heavy damage while triggering electrical explosions on impact.

Alongside the boss and exploration additions, the update significantly expands the Tech Tree with a new range of combat and utility items. These include Wooden, Rusty and Steel swords, a Makeshift Rifle, Sniper Rifle and Laser Rifle, as well as Freeze Mines and Ice-Nades capable of slowing enemies.

Other additions include Icy Soda, which temporarily reduces player friction, a Laser Pointer, new community-inspired sprays and the Fred Pillow.

A new limited-time Half GooGoo bundle also arrives with the update, featuring a cosmetic that covers one side of the player’s baboon and can be combined with the existing Meatman cosmetic. The bundle also includes the GooGoo Sword and bonus Gold.

The Black GooGoo update is available now in Scary Baboon on Meta Quest.
